General Information
About the course

OUR 4-week TEFL course (150 hours) is offered in the beautiful colonial city of La Antigua, the most popular destination in the country for both tourists and Guatemalans alike. The training program includes 100 hours of in-class instruction, 35 hours of required reading and written assignments, and 15 hours of observation and practical teaching.

Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be academically prepared for university-level work
  • Proficient at speaking and writing English
  • Must have excellent study skills and be able to write in English at a university level
  • Must be able to use computers, internet, and word processing software

Steps to take before the course
Application

In order to enroll on the course, please, contact us and we will send you an application form.

Payment

A $350 deposit is requested at the moment of the registration. The remaining balance ($1050) is to be paid at least 4 weeks before the program starts. Private apartments, hostels and hotels require a 50% non-refundable deposit a the moment of the registration.

Travel & Accommodation Support

For the accommodation we have the following options available:

  • Private apartment (4 weeks): $795
  • Host family – private room – breakfast & dinner included: $665
  • Hostel – private room: $890
  • Hotel – private room: $2200
Visa Support

Most of our students arrive to take the TEFL and get settled with a 90-day tourist visa. From there, it depends on the job they get whether they receive a work visa or simply step out for a few days every 3 months to renew their tourist visa.

Social Events & Trips

There is plenty to see and do around La Antigua including cultural events, tours and treks, and exploring the various markets. Our local staff also posts a monthly events calendar to let you know of the activities going on. Just outside of La Antigua, there is even more to explore including nearby coffee farms, volcanoes, and both Mayan and colonial ruins. Further outside the area, participants can visit beautiful Lake Atitlán, Semuc Champey, and the famous Tikal archaeological site. Our staff are experts on Guatemala and can answer any questions you have. Tours and trips can also easily be booked through our on-site travel partner.

We stay in touch with our graduates after the course and some of them are also hired to teach English with us (we normally hire 1-3 native English speaking TEFLers every month in Guatemala).
