Why did you decide to go to Prague to teach English?

Prague is a beautiful European city with a lot of history and culture. It’s central in Europe which makes it easy to travel around and see other places too.

Is it easy to find a job in Prague?

Finding an English teaching job in Prague is quite easy to do. There is definitely a demand for native English speaking teachers, and with so many opportunities it makes it possible to choose jobs that suit your preferences.

What do you like the most about teaching English in Prague?

What I enjoy most about living and teaching in Prague is being immersed in the Czech culture. There are so many things to experience, and the flexibility of a teaching schedule makes it easy to do. It is also great to be able to find students that you get along with, and who can ultimately end up teaching you more about life in the Czech Republic.

Are there any downsides about teaching English in Prague?

One negative aspect of teaching in English Prague is that because you teach students on an hourly basis, if ever the classes are cancelled or you decide to take some time off then you will not receive the pay that you otherwise would have. However, with a bit of planning ahead this can be worked around.

Did you find it easy or difficult to adapt to living in Prague? Why?

I think living in any new place can be difficult to adjust to. The most challenging thing for me to get used to was the language barrier. Luckily I had a bit of help from people who had already gone through the process, and I felt more confident just by learning things along the way. Soon, life in Prague became really enjoyable and worthwhile. It’s wonderful to be able to experience life in a new culture, and after some time it really begins to feel like a second home.

What are your best tips to make the most of teaching English in Prague?

Take the time to go out and meet new people, see all the sights, and really immerse yourself in the city. Don’t be discouraged if things don’t fall into place immediately, with a bit of confidence you’re sure to find your rhythm.
